Mrs. Ruth E. Hammond, 83, of Adair, died at 1:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 1996, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born on April 4, 1913, in Abingdon, a daughter of Frank W. and Suda Jane Hatchett Reynolds. She married Frank Burdette Hammond on March 14, 1942 in Kahoka, Mo. He died Nov. 5, 1978.
She is survived by three daughters, Nellie J. McLaughlin of Bondville, Margaret M. Hammond and Mary E. Erlandson of Macomb; two sons, Wallace D. Hammond of Canton and Alan B. Hammond of Seymour, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
She was a member of the Table Grove Community Church and showed American Saddle Bred Horses and was in the chicken dressing business from 1955 to 1995.
Cremation rites have been accorded by the Kost Memorial Home in Vermont where visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and memorial services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Table Grove Community Church with Rev. Lem Rees officiating. Burial of the ashes will be at a later date in the Pennington Point Cemetery.
