Vivian Heaton

Vivian W. “Viv” Heaton, 81, of Sprucewood Health Care Center in Macomb died there at 7:15 a.m. Friday, June 28, 1996.

He was born Dec. 23, 1914, in Vermont, a son of Ross and Roxie Stroops Heaton. He married Dorothy Yaap on Aug. 22, 1936. She died Jan. 21, 1973. He later married Betty Nelson on March 8, 1975. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Kay Heaton and Margaret Sowers, both of Macomb, Carol Treadwell of Arcadia, Fla., and Norene Kelly of Cody, Wyo.; one son, Marshall Heaton of Crossville, Tenn.; four sisters, Maxine Springer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Doris Tippet and Ariel Dakin, both of Macomb, and Betty Meachum of Canton; seven brothers, Bernard Heaton of Moline, Irvin Heaton of Toulon, Vernon Heaton and Bill Heaton, both of Quincy, Virgil Heaton of LeClaire, Iowa, Ross Heaton of Des Moines, Iowa, and Ben Heaton of Wheaton; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

One son, Albert Heaton, preceded him in death.

He was manager of Illinois Theater for many years and later was custodian at the Macomb Journal.

Graveside services were held Monday at Industry Cemetery with Rev. James Stovall officiating. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
