Charles Husted Dies At Age 88

Charles Husted, 88, of Bowen, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 1990, at Carthage Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 12, 1902, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a son of William and Cora (Webb) Husted. He married Ila B. Gilson July 10, 1926 in Astoria. She preceded him in death Jan. 20, 1978.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Letafern) Pile of Bowen; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, two brothers and one sister.

Mr. Husted had been a farmer, retiring in 1967. He lived in the Denver, Ill. area for 50 years until moving to Bowen four years ago.

He was a member of the Providence Primitive Baptist Church of Plymouth and the Hancock County Farm Bureau.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in DeJong-Nelser Funeral Home in Carthage with Raymond and Rob Webb officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
