VeteranDearl Heaton Of Canton Dies

Dearl Heaton, 92, of 558 E. Walnut, Canton, died at 8:43 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 1990, at Graham Hospital.

He was born Aug. 27, 1898, in Ray, the son of Delno and Eva Ashcraft Heaton. He married Opal M. Rose on July 19, 1934, in Lewistown. She survives.

Other survivors include one son, James M. Heaton of Canton; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

He was a World War I Army veteran. He was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 35 years and retired in 1968. He owned and operated the Main Street Tap in Peoria during the 1940’s. Along with his wife, he owned and operated the Rainbow Drive-In Restaurant in Creve Coeur in the 1950’s.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Murphy-Sedgewick Memorial Home with Rev. Delmar Smith officiating. Burial was at White Chapel Memory Gardens.
