VeteranGeorge W. Hickle Dies At Age 71

Friends and relatives here received word of the death of George W. Hickle, 71, of 74 S. West Street, Galesburg, on Wednesday at 11:50 a.m. at Cottage Hospital shortly after he was admitted.

He was born July 18, 1895 in Fulton County and has lived in Galesburg the past 40 years. On. Aug. 12, 1963 he married Lydia D. Clott.

He was a former city bus driver, a veteran of World War I, a member of the Methodist Church, FOE 518, Vesper AF & AM, and the Amalgamated Assoc. of Streetcar, Electric Railroad and Motorcoach employees of America.

Survivors include his widow; two brothers, Webster of Medford, Ore. and Glen of Jacksonville; three sisters, Mrs. Olive Craig and Mrs. Grace Wiley, both of Kewanee, and Mrs. Mary Lucian of Galesburg.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Hamon Chapel with Dr. Hoffman of the First Methodist Church officiating. Masonic services were held on Thursday evening. Burial was in East Linwood Cemetery.
