BERT HEFTON

Avon Man Kills Self With Borrowed Gun

Bert Hefton, of Avon, about 38 years old shot and killed himself in a garage at his home during the noon hour Thursday, being pronounced dead by a physician at 1 p.m. shortly after the shooting was discovered. He had never married.

Hefton is said to have borrowed a .410 shotgun from a neighbor who was told he was going to hunt rabbits.

It was reported that he had made an attempt on his life three or four years ago when he fired a rifle shot which entered his left shoulder.

Mr. Hefton had spent his entire lifetime in Avon, excepting for a short time when it was said, he was employed by Floyd Eshelman, east of Canton.
