SIMON FOLLMER HAMER

Simon Hamer’s Body Discovered Near Davenport

Vermont Union — Simon Follmer Hamer’s body was discovered Sunday near the bed of a creek two miles north of the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Cox. Two boys out hunting discovered it. It is believed that he was frozen to death the night that he wandered away from the Cox home.

Mr. Hamer had gone to the home of his daughter in Davenport to live and had wandered away from the house at 9 o’clock one night. His memory had failed him the last year and it was supposed that he had started out for his old home in Vermont. The police were notified, rewards were offered, advertisements were placed in newspapers and everything was done to locate Mr. Hamer but no word or hint was received of his whereabouts until the body was discovered by these boys Sunday.

Mr. Hamer passed away January 15, 1930 at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 1 day.
