Lewis F. Hopping, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hopping residing about four miles north of Astoria died Saturday, aged 28 years, 8 months and 24 days.

Lewis spent his entire life in this community with exceptions of eight months, when he was with the A. E. F. overseas, where he contracted tuberculosis which caused his death.

The deceased was born at Forsythe, Mo., Aug. 21, 1891. Besides his parents, he leaves to mourn his death, six brothers and one sister, namely: Wesley, Sherman, Walter, Henry, Roy, Ross and Mrs. Anna Termin; two half brothers and one half sister, Jack Caldwell, John Caldwell and Mrs. Martha Lawver.

Young Hopping was an upright and intelligent young man, loved and respected by all who knew him and will be sadly missed from his home by relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at Union Chapel Monday forenoon, conducted by Rev. O. W. Rose of Vermont. Burial in cemetery near by.
