Aged Couple Dead

Levi Holmes and wife, for years residents of Bluff City, died at their home in Bath within five days of each other.

Mr. Holmes was born in Summit county, Ohio, Oct. 9, 1845 and died Feb. 29, 1920, aged 74 years, 4 months and 20 days. He came to Illinois when 7 years old with his mother and lived on a farm near Astoria.

On May 19, 1866 he married Patience Aminia Curless and to this union were born 12 children, 6 of whom survive, namely: Mrs. Viola LeTissier, William, Thomas and Grover all of Bath, Mrs. Hattie Parks and Helena Sherrill, both of Bluff City.

Mr. Holmes was an honorable, industrious citizen and was held in high esteem.

Short services were held at the grave Tuesday, March 2nd, Rev. W. F. Gilmore of Bath officiating. Interment in Bath cemetery.

Patience Aminia Curless, wife of Levi Holmes was born Nov. 7, 1845, in Fulton county, and departed this life, March 5, 1920, aged 74 years, 3 months and 27 days.

Mrs. Holmes was a woman of exceptional character and the community loses one of its most loved residents.

Short services were held at the grave Sunday at 2 p.m., by Rev. W. F. Gilmore. Interment in Bath cemetery.

Died In Bath

Levi Holmes, at one time a resident of Bluff City, who will be remembered by the older residents, died at his home in Bath Sunday, aged about 70 years.

BLUFF CITY — Levi Holmes of Bath died Sunday from flu and pneumonia. He was a former resident of this place, having lived here the greater part of his life. The family have our deepest sympathy.
