Zelma Hammond

IPAVA — The flu claimed another victim and the community was saddened when the word went forth Monday afternoon that Mrs. Zelma Hammond, wife of Lee Hammond, had passed away at their country home, five miles east of Ipava. Mrs. Hammond had been ill but a week and notwithstanding loving care and the skilled of a trained nurse, steadily grew worse until the end. She was married to Lee Hammond, Oct. 24, 1908. One son, Glen, was born to them, who with the husband survive. She is also survived by two brothers, Orva Shaw, of Chicago, and Roy Shaw of Canton. One brother, Archie made the supreme sacrifice in France, and died from shell shock, Oct. 4, 1918. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Ipava Presbyterian church. Burial in Ipava cemetery.
