VERMONT — On Tuesday, May 15th, the spirit of Mrs. Joseph Hamer who has been ill for the past six months took its flight to the Land Beyond. Her maiden name was Rebecca Fallmer. She was born in Milton Pennsylvania in 1824, was united in marriage to Mr. Joseph Hamer in 1844. Eleven children were born to them, seven of whom and their aged father survive her. She came to this state in 1850, and settled on a farm about two miles North West of town till a few years ago when they moved to town.

Mrs. Hamer has been a consistent member of the Lutheran church for nearly a century. She was devoted to her husband and children, making their home pleasant. The funeral occurred from her late home the following Thursday, Elder G. W. Ross officiating. The remains were interred in the Vermont cemetery beside those of her children who preceded her to the unknown world.
