Stan GossageStan Gossage, 68, of Rushville died at 8:45 a.m. Nov. 26, 2014, at his home.

He was born Sept. 9, 1946, in Ray, a son of Howard and Verda Juett Gossage. He married Sharon Parsano on Sept. 3, 1966, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Shelley (and Kevin) Kveton of Minooka and Stacey (and Nathan) Briney of Rushville; two sisters, Jan Croxton of Peoria and Debbie Westcott of Rushville; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis “Butch” Gossage and Lyle “Joe” Gossage.

A 1964 graduate of Rushville High School, he served with the U.S. Army in Colorado Springs, Colo., from 1965-67, working in the motor pool. After the service, he and Sharon returned to Rushville, where he began working for Bartlow Brothers. He would later work as a delivery driver for Uregas, in the service department at Green Motors and delivery driver for Schwan’s. In 1978, he began his career with Schuyler-Brown FS, retiring as marketing manager on Jan. 3, 2014.

He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Schuyler American Legion Post #4, Voiture 40 et 8, Rushville Masonic Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M., 22 Club, Quincy Consistory, Illinois Valley Shrine, Ansar Shrine, Rushville Moose Lodge #506, Schuyler County Farm Bureau and Scripps Park Wednesday Night Men’s Golf League.

He coached for Rushville Little League and Pony League. At the time of his death, he held the Rushville Little League home run record of 13, from his years as a player.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Rushville City Cemetery with David Haney officiating.  Burial followed with military rites by U.S. Army Burial Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Masonic rites were conducted by Rushville Masonic Lodge #9 A.F. & A.M. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
