Joseph GallienJoseph E. Gallien, 96, of Canton died at 10:40 a.m. Oct. 29, 2014, at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.

He was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Derry, La., a son of Constant and Alice Gallien. He married Myrtis Foster. She preceded him in death. He later married Freda Benton. She survives.

Also surviving are two stepsons, Claxton “Clay” (and Mary) Cantrell of Peoria and Marvin (and Susan) Yocum of Canton; three sisters, Clotile Williams and Nellie Kuhn, both of Canton, and Motile Clark of California; families of Bernita Kumer, Virginia Yocum and Freda Benton; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

He retired in 1983 from International Harvester in Canton.

He was a World War II Air Force veteran and a member of Canton VFW Post 1984. He also was a member of Canton Moose Lodge and Canton Eagles Lodge.

Services were held Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Pastor Randy Munson officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton with military rites accorded.
