Fredrick Grigsby Sr.Fredrick O. Grigsby Sr., 81, of Cuba died at 4:45 a.m. May 25, 2014, at Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.

He was born Oct. 19, 1932, in Norris, a son of John and Pansey Phillips Grigsby. He married Joann Dick on Nov. 12, 1954, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are five children, Fred Grigsby and Jim Grigsby, both of Cuba and Peggy (and Bob) Malott, Patti Hartman and Diana Grigsby, all of Canton; one sister, Peggy (and Dan) Roach of Springfield; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

He was a coal miner and had worked at Buckheart Mine. He also was a self-employed truck driver.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic during the Korean War.

He was a member of Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Reverend Larry Wright officiating. Burial will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton with a military service by his American Legion Post. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the memorial home.
