Marjorie Marie Greer, 89, of Rushville died at 10:40 p.m. March 17, 2012, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mount Sterling.

She was born June 5, 1922, in Hersman at her parents' home, a daughter of Bert and Nina Ames Browning. She married Russell Greer on July 20, 1943, in Dakota City, Neb. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1996.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Boss; and two brothers, Donald and Robert Browning.

Surviving are one son, Gordon (and Sharon) Greer of Southaven, Miss.; one daughter, Joyce (and Van) Ray of Greenville, N.C.; one sister, Patsy Damman of Rushville; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was well known for managing The Virginia Community Building at Scripps Park in Rushville for 10 years. She also was a nursing assistant for 20 years at Mason District Hospital in Havana before retiring.

She was a member of Rushville First United Methodist Church, local coffee clubs, Tuesday Morning Ladies Golf League and Birthday Club.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Steve Pichaske officiating. Burial will be on the family lot at Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Culbertson Gardens, Rushville, or Rushville First United Methodist Church.
