Otto Gossage

Otto E. Gossage, 96, of Huntsville died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1910, in Schuyler County, a son of Fred and Mattie Sorrels Gossage. He married Margaret Louise Clemens on April 8, 1933, in Bardolph. She died May 23, 1991.

Also preceding him in death were four children, Richard, Betty, Larry and Wilma Gossage; two brothers; four sisters; and seven grandchildren.

Surviving are three sons, Otto Jr. (and Patti) of Marietta, Randy (and Judy) of Macomb and Danny of Basco; five daughters, Norma (and Bob) Teel, Shirley Spencer and Helen Spencer, all of Macomb, Mary Teel of Colchester and Hazel Gossage of Brooklyn; 33 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

He farmed in his early years, operated a sawmill in Littleton and worked at Robertson Block Co. in Beardstown, retiring in 1976.

Services were held Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Joyce Farwell officiating. Burial was in Ridgeville Cemetery near Browning.
