Robert Garren Sr.

Robert E. Garren Sr., 72, of Canton died at 4:07 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Graham Hospital.

He was born March 11, 1930, in Canton, a son of Otto F. and Caroline C. O'Neil Garren. He married Grace L. Rawley on June 30, 1951, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Randy (and Kim), Teddy, Robert Jr. and Ricky (and Cindy), all of Canton, and Jamie (and Angie) of Lewistown; five daughters, Vickie (and Ricky) Hamm Sr. of Astoria, Kathy Woodall of East Peoria, Robin (and Ron) Schmidt and Stacy Garren, both of Canton, and Lori (and Wayne) Belless of St. David; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Paul, both of Canton; and two sisters, Lora Shaffer of Canton and Margaret (and Tony) Myetich of Springfield, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tracy Rea Garren, and one brother.

He had worked at the Studebaker Garage and last worked for Freeman United Coal Mine.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton.

Services will be held today at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Arthur Meyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Canton.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
