TONY W. GRZANICH

VeteranTony Grzanich

Tony W. Grzanich, 82, of Dunfermline, died at 7:05 a.m. Sunday, March 14, 1999, at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.

He was born June 10, 1916, in Dunfermline, a son of Gabriel and Johanna Zaborac Grzanich. He married Rosalee Peart on July 24, 1937, in Keokuk, Iowa. She died Feb. 11, 1988. One daughter, Judith Shumate, three brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Larry of Canton; one daughter, Carol Theyse of Dunfermline; two brothers, Emil of Dunfermline and William of Lewistown; three sisters, Eva Gordon of Dunfermline, Mary Briney of Browning and Josephine Milos of Bellevue, Neb.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5001 in Lewistown. He worked in the forge shop at International Harvester in Canton for 37 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. David and the Croatian Fraternal Union #201. He was a Democratic precinct committeeman for Buckheart Township for 45 years.

Services were held this morning at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Robert O’Connor officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Canton.
