William “Bill” Gouran, 57, of Beardstown, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born Oct. 11, 1941, in Peoria, a son of Robert and Eva Haanpaa Gouran.
Surviving are four sons, Michael and Shawn, both of Browning, Christopher of Beardstown and Curtis of Pleasant Hill; one stepson, John Derry of Havre, Mont.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Larry (Chris) Carter of Meredosia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Bud (Lois) Krohe and Donna Bechard, both of Beardstown, Janice Steelye of Peoria and Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Draksler of East Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
For 20 years, he worked for several barge lines on the Illinois and Mississippi rivers.
Services were held this morning at Sager Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Simpson officiating. Burial was in St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery.
