Estelle Grether, 83, Of Mt. Sterling Dies

Mrs. Estelle Grether, 83, of Mt. Sterling died at 10:25 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 1980, at her home.

Born Nov. 15, 1896, in Schuyler County, she was a daughter of Austin and Doll Camp Stambaugh. She married Robert Foster in 1916, and he died in 1926. She later married Albert E. Grether in 1938. He died in 1954.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Parker of Tujunga, Calif., Mrs. Lawrence (Rosalie) Quisenberry of Peoria, and Mrs. Eloise Duncan of Muncie, Ind.; one brother, Nelson Stambaugh of Browning; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Two sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Grether was a retired office employee of Prairie Farms Creamery and art teacher at St. Mary’s Academy. She was a member of Church of Holy Family and American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Church of the Holy Family with Rev. Richard Trotter officiating. Burial was in Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
