Gregory Gray, 21, Dies In Crash

Two persons died early Sunday in a head-on crash on Route 136 about four and a half miles south of the Route 41 junction near Macomb.

Dead at the scene were the two drivers, Max Gregor, 72, of 526 Western Ave., Macomb, and Gregory Gray, 21, of Ipava.

A passenger, Mrs. Elsie Gregor, Gregor's wife, was admitted to McDonough District Hospital following the 12:15 a.m. crash with forehead lacerations and a fractured right leg.

According to State Police, the Gray car was southbound on Route 136 when it crossed the center line colliding head-on with the northbound Gregor car. State Police said the road was wet and light fog covered the area.

The accident was investigated by State Police Trooper Larry Schreffler.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Funeral services for Gregory R. Gray were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Ipava with Rev. John Smidt officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Ipava.

Surviving are his parents of Ipava; a brother, Kent Gray, at home; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Eliza Gray of Ipava; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clio Branson, also of Ipava.

His paternal grandfather and a brother died previously.
