ALICE L. (SMITH) HARBERT GARTON

Death Continues To Ride On Every Passing Breeze

Mrs. Lincoln Garton died at her home in Astoria Wednesday, aged 67 years, 1 month and 9 days. She had been ill for some time with complications.

Alice L. Smith, daughter of Joshua and Emeline Smith, was born Feb. 2, 1864 near Martinsville, Ill., where she lived until after her marriage to Rev. W. C. Harbert, which occurred on Oct. 18, 1882. To this union three children were born, Marion Joshua, who died Jan. 3, 1894, Mrs. Hattie Schisler of Astoria and C. C. Harbert of Abingdon. On March 21, 1920, Rev. Harbert passed away.

On Nov. 30, 1927, she was united in marriage to Lincoln L. Garton of Astoria, who with the children survives to mourn her death. She is also survived by two stepchildren, six grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Mary Cown, Martinsville, Mrs. Arminta Mullens, Mrs. Clara Clark of Lenark, John E. Smith of Martinsville and Luther M. Smith of Terre Haute, Ind.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the United Brethren church, conducted by Rev. John Davis, assisted by Rev. Fred Thompson. Burial in Astoria cemetery.
