LAVINA (SHELDON) GREGORY

Lavina Gregory

ASTORIA — The remains of Mrs. John H. Gregory, formerly Miss Lavina Sheldon, were brought from Missouri to Sheldons Grove, her old home, on Sunday, for burial. She was a lady well-known in Astoria and surrounding country. Her illness was not of long duration.

SHELDONS GROVE — Died at her home in Clairmont, Mo., April 17, Mrs. Lavina Sheldon-Gregory. She had been having poor health for several years, but not dangerously ill until just a few weeks prior to her death. By her request she was brought back to her homeland for burial. The husband and granddaughter accompanied the remains to Browning where they were met by relatives and near friends who conducted them to the church she had so many years labored to sustain. Here Rev. Ross, pastor of the M. E. Church conducted the funeral services, after which she was laid to rest in the Butlersville cemetery. Many friends from Astoria, Summum, Baders, Browning, Bluff City and the surrounding country gathered to view the remains and witness the last sad rites of burial to one who had been so devoted during her life to all church work. Mr. Gregory and granddaughter Miss Mabel Biggs will perhaps leave this week for their home in Missouri. We are sorry we have not the obituary. Will perhaps send it next week.
