Died, at his home in Browning township, Sunday, September 9, Joseph Gieman, aged seventy-three years, six months and twenty-nine days.
Joseph Gieman, the subject of this sketch, was born in Maryland in the year 1821. Came to Illinois in 1857, and with his wife settled on the farm where he resided until death. He leaves a wife and nine children — three boys and six girls — to mourn his loss. The funeral occurred Tuesday, September 11, 1894, at the Dunkard church south of Astoria conducted by Rev. J. M. Mohler, of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, and Rev. Conrad Danner, of Woodland township, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near by.
