ED A. GRUBER

Ed Gruber

Ed A. Gruber died very suddenly at his home 2-1/2 miles West of Astoria last Wednesday. He was born [in] Elizabeth, Pa., 1872 and moved with his parents to Ill. in the spring of 1883. March 1883 he had his leg broken, from which he never entirely recovered. Almost ever since he has been bothered with a running sore on the leg that was broken which seemed to spread and it finally became necessary for him to have his leg amputated. On the 21st of last February Drs. Hull and Toler amputated the limb, and he has been getting along nicely. Mr. Gruber was 21 years, 6 months and 9 days old. He was highly esteemed by all who knew him. The family have the sympathy of all their neighbors in their bereavement. The funeral services were held at the South Duncard church, Messrs Bucher and Demy conducting the services. The remains were laid to rest in that place.
