He was born March 2, 1950, in Owensboro, Ky., a son of Joe Taylor and Louise Allgood-Ford. He was adopted and raised by Merle Ford Sr. He married Dana Yocum on Feb. 18, 1971, in Lewistown.
Surviving are two children, Valerie (and Aaron) Brooks of Astoria and Brian (and Veronica) Ford of Lombard; three sisters, Mary Emma (and Bill) Hughes, Marla Ford and Marsha Ford, all of Havana; one brother, Merle Ford Jr. of Lewistown; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He worked at Caterpillar and retired after 37 years. He was a member of Lewistown Masonic Lodge 104 AF and AM and Lewistown United Methodist Church.
Cremation will be accorded. Inurnment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Lewistown Fire and Rescue, Lewistown Masonic Lodge 104, Ducks Unlimited and Lewistown Historical Society.
