Brian Florey

Brian Shane Florey, 56, of Peoria died at 1:39 p.m. June 17, 2020, at OSF Healthcare in Peoria.

He was born Sept. 22, 1963, in Beardstown.

Surviving are his mother, Donna Hager Hickernell and stepfather, Bob of Rushville; one sister, Andrea (and Gary) Blurton of Rushville; one stepbrother, Tim Hickernell of Chicago; one stepsister, Tammy (and Todd) Israel of Armington; three nephews; and two step nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Florey; and maternal grandparents, Ben and Marie Hager.

He graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1981. He served over five years in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer.

He was a member of Beardstown First Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ducks Unlimited.

A graveside service was held Tuesday at Rushville City Cemetery with Brother Matt Haberman officiating. Military honors were held by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and a U.S. Army honors detail followed. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
