Ted FlowersTed J. Flowers, 76, of Rushville died at 9:27 p.m. March 20, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

He was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Beardstown, a son of Joseph F. and Gladys Finfrock Flowers. He married Carol Leach on Oct. 16, 1993, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Tammy Jones (and friend Joshua Shults) of Pleasant View, Tina Kindred of Jacksonville and Angie (and Eric) Peacock of Rushville; one sister, Jane Hering of Great Falls, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Tim Flowers; and one brother, Charles Flowers.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He was a 1952 graduate of Beardstown High School.

For over 43 years, he worked in autobody repair as owner of Flower's Autobody in Beardstown.

He was a member of Rushville Free Methodist Church, Schuyler American Legion Post #4, Guthrie Pierce VFW #1239 in Beardstown and Rushville Moose Lodge #506. He was past president of American Bottle Association.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend Rosalee Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with military rites by U.S. Naval Burial Detail, Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and Guthrie Pierce VFW #1239. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Rushville.

Memorials may be made to the Rushville Free Methodist Children's Ministry, Rushville Little League or American Cancer Society.
