VeteranLaVerne Foxall

LaVerne H. Foxall, 81, of Macomb died at 11:14 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.

He was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Macomb, a son of Henry and Mary Elizabeth Friday Foxall. He married Jacquelyn G. "Jacki" Wade on Oct. 1, 1961, in Arlington, Va. She survives.

Also surviving are six sons, Danny of Colchester, Larry of Tucson, Ariz., Bill, Kenneth and Bob, all of Macomb, and Scott of Leesburg, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Vicki Cannon of Leesburg; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Max of Macomb; and one sister, Margaret Mercer of Vermont.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of McDonough American Legion Post 6 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1921.

He was a bricklayer.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 1009.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maple Avenue Christian Church with Rev. Chris Williams officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, where military honors will be accorded by his American Legion and VFW posts.

Memorials may be made to the intensive care unit at the VA Medical Center.
