Herman Forsten, 83, of Macomb died at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at McDonough District Hospital.

He was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Zeeland, Mich., a son of Henry and Fanny Flik Forsten. He married Margaret Craft on Oct. 25, 1944, in Chicago. She survives.

Also surviving are one brother, John (and Marilyn) of Adelaide, Australia; and several nieces and nephews.

One sister preceded him in death.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years, first as a railway clerk and later in Chicago-area post offices.

He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church in Tinley Park for 40 years.

Services were held Saturday at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
