Services for Ralph E. Ford Jr., 38, of rural Astoria, who died at 10:10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, were held Saturday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton with Rev. Tim Ashley officiating. Burial was in Buckeye Cemetery in Smithfield.

He died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident near Astoria.

He was born Aug. 18, 1960, in Monmouth, a son of Ralph E. Sr. and Dolly Smith Ford. He married Wilma “Punkin” Barclay on June 27, 1995, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Dolly Kelley of Alamogordo, N.M.; two sons, Ralph III and Ryan, both at home; one brother, James of Vermont; three sisters, Judy Brien of Roscoe, Debbie Payne of Alamogordo and Lori Titus of Table Grove; one half brother, John Ford of Bernadotte; and several nieces and nephews.

His father preceded him in death.

He was a fork-truck operator for Excel Corp. in Beardstown. He was the chief union steward for the UFCU Local 431.

Memorials may be made to a fund for his children in care of Ipava State Bank.
