CORDIA M. (SERVIS) FOUTCH

Cordia Foutch

Cordia M. Foutch, 93, of the Care Center of Abingdon since 1992, died there at 7:53 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998.

She was born Dec. 19, 1904, near Marietta, a daughter of Jacob M. and Ruth A. Smith Servis. She married Harley Foutch on April 2, 1924. He died Jan. 27, 1987. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Frances, and two brothers.

Surviving are three sons, Donavan and Lugene, both of Abingdon, and Van Dorous of Springfield, Mo.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Mark Moon of Abingdon; and two sisters, Frances Hedden of Farmington and Edna Ackley of Abingdon.

She lived in Point Pleasant and Vermont, Ill., before moving to Abingdon in 1941. She worked at the former Abingdon Blue Bell Manufacturing Co. for two years and American Sanitary Co. (Brass Factory) for five years. She later worked at Abingdon Nursing Home, retiring in 1966. She was a member of the Mayflower Society. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.

Services were held Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with Eleanor Landon officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery in Vermont.

Memorials may be made to her church or the Care Center of Abingdon Activity Department.
