Three Killed When Speeding Car Hits Moving Train

The lives of three Canton people were crushed out and two of their companions were critically injured shortly after midnight Friday when the machine in which they were riding crashed with terrific force against the side of a moving freight train at a grade crossing of the M. & St. L. Ry. in Farmington.

The dead were Blanche and Earl Kirkpatrick, aged 17 and 19, brother and sister and Edna Flynn, 18, all of Canton. The injured were Richard Weiler, 18, and George Wagnor, 19.

The automobile, according to report, was being driven by Blanche Kirkpatrick, when it rammed into the train.

Cause of the accident was undetermined by authorities who prepared to open an investigation today.

Belief that Miss Kirkpatrick may have become frightened and lost control as she saw the freight and neared the crossing was pointed out as a possible reason for the accident.

The injured were removed to a hospital in Canton where they were reported to be suffering from numerous cuts and bruises.
