JOHN H. FOSTER

John H. Foster Dies Following Long Illness

John H. Foster, a well known, highly respected farmer, who up until about two months ago, resided in the Flatwoods neighborhood, died Sunday at the home of his daughter Mrs. Lawrence Snowden in Astoria. He was aged 76 years, 9 months and 13 days. Death was due to stomach trouble from which he had been a great sufferer for the past eighteen months.

Mr. Foster was possessed of a jovial, good-natured disposition. He had many neighbors and friends, which was attested by the large attendance at his funeral.

Mr. Foster lived in and around Astoria practically all his life, with the exception of three years when he lived in Kansas. On April 18th, 1878, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Grove. To this union six children were born, namely: Charles Foster of Oklahoma City, Okla, Floyd Foster and Mrs. Bertha Snowden, Astoria, Sherman Foster, Canton, Earl Foster, Ray, and Ralph Foster of Adair, all of whom together with their mother survive to mourn his death. He is also survived by two brothers, George Foster of Astoria and Ben Foster of Vermont. Two half sisters, address unknown.

The deceased was a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the U. B. church at 2:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. W. R. Seitzinger. Burial in Astoria cemetery.
