Two Boys Drown In Illinois River At Liverpool

Everett Foster, 25, and Cecil Foster, 12, were drowned in the Illinois river at Liverpool Sunday morning at about 10:30. Lawrence Whitehead, 19 and William Pace, 28, were rescued from the river.

In an effort to enjoy some excitement through riding the waves thrown by the government steamboat Comanche, the boys got into a boat and started to follow the steamer. When they got into the heavy waves the boat upset. In an attempt to save his brother, Everett Foster was [film scratched – illegible]. The other two were rescued.

At 12:30 o’clock, the body of Everett Foster was taken from the river. Cecil’s body was found at 11:30 o’clock Monday morning near Havana, about 9 miles from where the lad sank 49 hours previously.
