SOL FRANK

Remains of Man Frozen to Death Buried Here

The remains of Sol Frank was brought here from Chicago Saturday night for burial. Interment took place Monday forenoon at 10 o’clock in the Astoria cemetery.

The deceased was a son-in-law of Mrs. Susie Windherst. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Susana.

Mr. Frank had recently undergone a serious operation at a hospital in Chicago for a growth on the back of his head. He had left the hospital and gone to his home. On Thursday night, January 16, at 10 o’clock he told his wife he would go for a walk; that he believed it would help him sleep. His wife retired, but when he did not return she became alarmed and went in search of him. Not finding him she notified the police and later broadcasting his disappearance.

It was snowing when he left the house. A week later his body was found about a mile and a half from his home near the Chicago river, covered with snow. It was apparent that he froze to death.

Mr. Frank was a telegraph operator. He was about 48 years of age.

Mrs. Susie Windherst was visiting in Huron, S. D. She went to her daughter’s home and accompanied her here for the funeral. Miss Wilma Hopkins, of Chicago, also accompanied them. All three returned to Chicago Monday.
