Sherman Furnace

Sherman Furnace, the subject of this sketch, died at the residence of his parents Southwest of Astoria, Thursday, April 27, 1893, of measles.

He was born in Schuyler county, October 11, 1869, and at the time of his death was twenty-three years, six months and sixteen days old. In 1878 with his parents he moved to Astoria township where he has since lived. At a protracted meeting in 1890 conducted by Rev. James Miller he acknowledged Christ and since has been a conscientious christian man and his every act was such that he was admired and loved by all who knew him. The funeral occurred on Friday, conducted by Rev. Rigney and although the weather was disagreeable a large number of relatives and friends followed the remains to its last resting place in the Oak Ridge cemetery.
