He was born July 29, 1939, in Beardstown, a son of Harold E. and Helen Aileen Virgin Emerick. He married Nancy Lee Bowman on Nov. 21, 1958, in Arkansas. She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1985.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwayne Emerick and Alvin Emerick.
Surviving are two daughters, Tamra Grafton (and Kevin) of Rushville and Lorie Buchanan (and Ron) of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Peggy Eblen of Salem, Ind.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He worked as a paramedic several places and was the ambulance director and fire chief for Mount Sterling.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Beardstown City Cemetery with David Haney officiating. Inurnment will follow. There will be no visitation. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
