Sammy EvansSammy Allen Evans, 72, of Frederick, formerly of Bloomington, died at 2:20 p.m. Sept. 2, 2017, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born May 1, 1945, in Bloomington, a son of Emmitt and Lydia Smith Evans.

Surviving are two sons, Randy (and Kathy) Evans of Normal and Terry (and Rebecca) Evans of Boaz, Ala.; one brother, Bobby (and Dorene) Evans of Normal; one sister, Judy (and John) Probus of Holder; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Beatrice Bell, Virginia Wirrick, Margaret Meyers and Vivian Evans; and two brothers, Jimmie Evans and Ronald Evans.

He worked as a stonecutter for Walsh Monuments in Bloomington. He later worked as a material handler at Eureka Williams for 25 years retiring in 1996. In 1997, he moved to his farm in Frederick.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Messerer Cemetery near Frederick. There will be no visitation. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
