She was born July 1, 1931, in Peoria, a daughter of Lloyd and Gertrude Edwards VanMeter. She married Donald Emerick on Sept. 11, 1949. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1960.
She also was preceded in death by one son, William Alan “Bill” Emerick; and one sister, Betty Edwards Alters.
Surviving are two daughters, Dianne Emerick and Linda (and Charles) Fleck, both of Rushville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She first worked at Mary’s Dari-Maid and Mickelberry’s in Rushville. She later worked as an X-ray technician at Culbertson Memorial Hospital for many years, retiring in 1993.
Services were held Saturday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend John Sowers officiating. Burial was in the Rushville City Cemetery.
