Dorothy L. "Dot" Etter, 89, of Astoria died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.
She was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Buckheart Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Rodney and Sarah Ann Raby Herrick. She married John Phillip "Phil" Etter on Nov. 2, 1946, in Paris, IL. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1989.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Philda McCombs; two brothers, Harold and Howard Herrick; and two sisters, Viola Moss and Rita Cox.
Surviving are one daughter, Debbie (and Jim) Park of Astoria; one son-in-law, Jon McCombs of Astoria; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was a bookkeeper for Astoria Fibra Steel Corporation in Astoria.
She was a member of Astoria United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and a lifetime member of Ipava Order of Eastern Star #144.
Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Al Turl and Rodney Herrick officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Philda McCombs Memorial Scholarship in care of Graham Hospital Foundation in Canton.
