Izellia Edwards

Izellia L. Edwards, 87, of Rushville died June 28, 2011, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born March 27, 1924, in Hillsboro, a daughter of Jacob T. and Lula Elizabeth Doty Ginger. She married Harry H. Edwards on July 18, 1945, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1998.

She also was preceded in death by seven brothers, George, Ray, Clarence, Joe, Floyd, Leonard and Jacob Ginger; and five sisters, Mary Weber, Minnie Zimmerly, Beulah White, Elsie Ginger and Sarah Alice Ginger.

Surviving are twin sons, Harry R. (and Patty) Edwards of Marquette Heights and Larry D. (and Debbie) Edwards of Riverton; one daughter, Sharon (and Duane) Davis of Rushville; one sister, Edna Daymude of Brimfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She first worked for Libby Corporation of Morton. Later, she worked at Bemis Bag in Peoria for six years, Kersch Cafe in Farmington and at several nursing homes and restaurants, as a cook.

She was a member of Schuyler American Legion Auxillary and a life member of POW Club in Peoria.

Services were held Thursday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend Steve Pichaske officiating. Cremation was accorded. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
