Dewey EdwardsDewey J. Edwards, 81, of Lewistown died at 3:01 p.m. Dec. 21, 2010, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born July 4, 1929, in Washington Township, Tazewell County, a son of Dewey and Marguerite Rosa Edwards. He married Dolores Evans on Oct. 16, 1951, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dale “Jeannie” (and Craig) Hand of Lewistown and Debby (and Garth) Sanders of Walnut, Miss.; four brothers, Price Edwards, Donald (and Shirley) Edwards, Richard (and Marian) Edwards, all of Canton, and Bill (and Beverly) Edwards of Bloomington; one sister, Nancy (and Richard) Lingenfelter of Chillicothe; four grandchildren; five step grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five step greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one granddaughter.

He retired in 1979 as a supervisor with Caterpillar.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952 and received the Army Occupation Medal while in Japan, and the Korean Service Medal.

He was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.

He was a lifetime member of Farmington Moose Lodge, a 50-year member of Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Peoria, a 50-year member of Farmington Lodge 192 and a member of Lewistown VFW Post 5001.

Cremation will be accorded. There will be no services. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.
