ERMA M. (FOSS) ENGEL

Erma Engel

Erma M. Engel, 79, of Ipava died at 9:20 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born May 23, 1923, in Chicago, a daughter of Walter and Alma Peterson Foss. She married Ray Engel on Oct. 3, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Nathan (and Shirley) of Ipava, Keith (and Linda) of Macomb and Michael (and Marty) of Quincy; one daughter, Jill (and Chuck) Woody of Roodhouse; one sister, Ruth Engel of Seatonville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She and her husband owned and operated Ipava Home Center, where she also served as a bookkeeper.

She was active with the Fulton County Civic Singers.

She was a member of Ipava United Presbyterian Church in Ipava, where she was an elder and active in the United Presbyterian Women.

Services were held Monday at her church with Rev. William Bodamer and Pastor Kevin Kessler officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.
