William Harold Emmons, 49, of rural Astoria, was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at his home.

He was born July 7, 1949, in Beardstown, a son of Merrill Eugene and Rosalie Briney Emmons.

Surviving are one daughter, Janna Emmons of Canton; one son, Rob of Rushville; one brother, Mike of Havana; one sister, Sharon Pierce of Lincoln; and two granddaughters.

His parents preceded him in death.

An Army veteran, he served in Germany and in the Vietnam War. He was the head fire marshal at Archer Daniels Midland Co. in Peoria. He was a Big Lake Drainage District commissioner and a member of Hickory-Kerton Fire Department.

Services were held Saturday at Hurley Funeral Home, Havana. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Havana, where military rites were accorded by Havana Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6408.

Memorials may be made to Hickory-Kerton Fire Department or Neighborhood House in Peoria.
