LLOYD E. EMMINGER

Lloyd Emminger

Lloyd E. Emminger, 88, of Abingdon, died at 8:03 a.m. Sunday, March 23, 1997 in the emergency room at St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

He was born Oct. 15, 1908, in Browning Township, Schuyler County, a son of Joseph and Viola Long Emminger. He married Mary Johnson on Feb. 19, 1938, in Burlington, Iowa. She survives.

Also surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Wilkins and Mae Johnson, both of Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews, including Nancy C. Johnson Pieper of Bushnell and Shirley L. Johnson Riggs Allen of Lincoln, both of whom he raised.

One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

He worked on a farm before moving to Abingdon. He then worked at the former Blue Bell Manufacturing for many years. He later worked for Briggs Manufacturing for 26 years, retiring in 1974. He was a volunteer fireman for Abingdon Fire Department for 30 years. He was a member of Galesburg Eagles Lodge 518.

Services were held Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with Rev. Raymond McLaren officiating. Burial was in Abingdon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Abingdon Christian Church or to any charity.
