GREGORY J. “GREG” ENGLISH

Gregory English

Gregory J. “Greg” English, 37, of Marietta, died at 6:32 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 1996.

He was born on Dec. 18, 1958, in Macomb, the son of Lloyd E. and Ramona Brewer English. He married Judy Markley on June 16, 1978, at Fiatt. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, David and one daughter, Jamie, both at home; his mother, Ramona Howard of Marietta; maternal grandmother, Irene Oller of Bushnell; and a special friend and an employee at Greg’s business, Rick Whiteman of Marietta; three brothers, Stephen English of Marietta, Kirby English and Todd English, both of Bushnell.

He was preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandparents, maternal grandfather and his stepfather.

He was the owner/operator of Cuba Auto Repair in Cuba. He formerly worked for the Cuba Unit School District and the former Cuba Ford Motor Co. as a mechanic. He graduated from the Spoon River College Automotive Technology School. He was a member and chief of the Marietta branch of the Smithfield-Marietta Fire Department and had served as a Marietta Village Trustee for a number of years. He was a member of the Cuba Business Association and was an avid camper and fisherman.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Henry Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Layton Malone officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private inurnment will be held in the Marietta Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to an educational fund for his children established at the Fairview State Banking Co.
