Henry “Pete” Efnor, 84, of Abingdon, formerly of rural Marietta, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 1996, at his home.

He was born Sept. 5, 1911, in Cuba, the son of Jess and Margie Smith Efnor. He married Louise Maddock on Dec. 20, 1947, in Raritan. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Darrel Efnor of Bradford and Terry Efnor of Bowling Green, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Ken (Carol Ann) Pickrell of Abingdon and Mrs. Dan (Sue Ellen) Williamson of East Peoria; one sister, Frances Ridle of Eureka; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

One sister and one granddaughter preceded him in death.

A World War II veteran, he was a 50-year member of Russell Smith American Legion in Cuba. He worked at the former International Harvester in Canton for 40 years retiring in 1974. He was a member of United Auto workers. He was active with Faith Bible Camp in Yates City.

He attended Checkrow Community Church in Checkrow, where services were held Saturday with Rev. Norm Waligorn and Rev. Rodney Ruberg officiating. Burial was in Cuba Cemetery, where military rites were accorded by his American Legion post.

Memorials may be made to Faith Bible Camp in Yates City.

Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell was in charge of arrangements.
