VeteranRev. Henry Euler Of Granville Dies

Rev. Henry Euler, 71, of Granville died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 1990, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

He was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Freeport, a son of John and Mabel Shippey Euler. He married Margaret Leib on Dec. 25, 1941, in Astoria. She died in 1988.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Janice) Snow of Jerseyville, Mrs. Lyle (Jeanette) Peterson of Streator and Mrs. James (Margaret) Stanicek of Hagerstown, Md.; three sons, Philip of Granville, Sgt. Stephen of Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Robert Allen of Spring Valley; 18 grandchildren; two brothers, Ferd of Wisconsin and Lee of Freeport; and three sisters, Erma Bear, Elva Smith and Mary Jane Myers, all of Freeport.

An ordained minister for 43 years, he completed training at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in 1947. He worked in the area around Freeport and built Calvary Baptist Church in Freeport. He was the pastor of Granville United Brethren Church and was interim pastor at Henry Baptist Church. He last was pastor of the Jonesville Tabernacle.

He helped in various capacities at the Baptist Church in LaSalle, where he served as deacon and teacher. During World War II, he served in the Army in Italy and as a chaplain in Florida.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. this morning at First Baptist Church in LaSalle, with Rev. Lloyd Streeter officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport.

Helmer-Shields Funeral Home in Granville was in charge of arrangements.
