Luther Earl, a farmer living near Ferris, Hancock county, was killed by a T. P. & W. passenger train a short distance west of LaHarpe, recently. He was walking on the track and when the engineer on the train gave the warning whistle he stepped aside, but as the train approached stepped on again right in front of the engine. It is thought to be a case of suicide.
